Carl Lohse. Ein Maler des Expressionismus

Exhibition on view 19 November 2022 - 5 March 2023 at Kunstmuseum Ravensburg. The Hamburg-born painter Carl Lohse (1895-1965) created an uncompromising and striking expressionist oeuvre after World War I and is one of the long overlooked exceptional figures in art history. The solo exhibition focuses on paintings from Lohse's most intensive creative phase between 1919 and 1921, which is characterized by bold color combinations and an impressive reduction of form.
